Christian Pulisic of the USMNT rediscovers his form in Chelsea’s victory over Wolves before the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Fans of the US men’s national team can exhale in ease after Christian Pulisic scored in Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Wolves by taking advantage of a rare start. Chelsea had more than enough firepower to earn all three points at Stamford Bridge while on the rotation following a midweek victory against AC Milan in the Champions League. The most significant of Graham Potter’s seven changes was Pulisic. With fantastic assists from Mason Mount, who also had a strong game against the Wolves, Kai Havertz, Armando Broja, and Pulisic found the back of the net, Potter was rewarded for his faith.

Taking over for Raheem Sterling in only his second game for Chelsea, the American winger for the USMNT proved why the Blues should give him more playing time. Pulisic, who alternated between playing as a left winger and a wing-back, was a dynamic force for Chelsea as they tore apart a wobbly Wolves team in the Premier League. Pulisic finished with an expected goals tally of 0.40 on four shots, three of them on target, and a chance created in addition to the goal, but he left the game in the 72nd minute.

He was among those looking to get things off immediately from kickoff while Wolves tried their utmost to restrict Chelsea. Jose Sa had to make a big save to prevent him from scoring in the first half, and Pulisic took three of his shots before the break to set up his chance.

In the second half, Pulisic continued to play the same way and was rewarded for his effort by scoring an additional goal to put the game out of reach. Gregg Berhalter desires this kind of ambition for the national team. In his tenth appearance, Pulisic made a move from wide and played a one-two with Mason Mount to score his first Chelsea goal of the year. On November 21 versus Wales in Qatar, the United States will be aiming for a goal of that nature.

Potter will give Pulisic more playing time if he can utilize this game as an opportunity to shine as Sterling’s backup. Pulisic will struggle to get into the starting lineup on a regular basis. Potter will need his entire squad to be at the top of their game since he will need to rotate when Chelsea is trying to move to the knockout stages of Champions League play. This is a goal that could provide Pulisic a boost for the remainder of the season as he has battled to find a role while trying to obtain minutes for Chelsea.

The result of the game favors Chelsea, Pulisic, and the national team. Chelsea has three away games in the next eight days against AC Milan, Aston Villa, and Brentford, thus Pulisic will probably be used again rather soon.
