Canelo Alvarez will make his acting debut in the movie “Creed III”

Michael B. Jordan, the film’s director, and boxing champion Canelo Alvarez confirmed the news on Thursday. Alvarez has taken part in numerous notable fights, but this will be his first time acting in a major motion picture.

“directing Creed III’s Canelo, the man who started the legend. I can’t wait till March 3 when everyone will see “Thursday night, Jordan posted on Instagram. “A star both inside and outside the ring Please join our family. Have a successful weekend!”

The film, which is scheduled for premiere in theaters on March 3, 2023, will be Jordan’s first effort at directing. There are currently few information available regarding the character Alvarez will play or the size of his part, although the Creed series, a spinoff of the Rocky film series, has previously included notable boxers. The first two movies featured Tony Bellew, Andre Ward, Gabriel Rosado, and Jacob Duran among other combatants.

Athletes, particularly those who compete in combat sports, frequently take their abilities to Hollywood. Conor McGregor, the UFC champion, will star in a remake of the movie Road House, according to a statement made by Amazon Studios earlier this year.

The announcement of Creed III came during a busy weekend for Alvarez. On Saturday night, he will face Gennady Golovkin, often known as “GGG,” in the third fight of their trilogy. Four years have passed since their last encounter, in which Alvarez defeated GGG by a majority vote in 2018. Their first encounter in 2017 ended in a tie. Alvarez wants to win this fight by knockout.
